Searching for a Supportive & Skilled Provider

When you are searching for a provider for your breech birth, it can be overwhelming and frustrating.  Here are suggestions for finding a supportive and skilled provider.

  • Do your research and educate yourself- know your options.  Learn about breech.  Learn the benefits and risks of each birth option: vaginal breech birth or cesarean.  Develop a plan and contingency plan for birth.
  • Ask for a referral to a skilled provider (from more than one source, if needed).  Ask questions.  Get a second opinion.
  • Seek out resources in the community to build a supportive birth team.  Resources for turning a breech baby.  Supportive providers (e.g., midwives, doulas, chiropractors, acupuncturists, etc.).
  • If you cannot find a supportive and skilled provider in your area, you are not alone.  You may want to consider traveling to a midwife or obstetrician to find the support you need.  Find community to support you and your decision making.
